The top down leader is the one who emphasizes his role as the leader. He makes decisions and those that follow him must complete his instructions. If a situation requires quick action such as an emergency then top down leadership works perfectly. There is no arguing a decision made in this leadership style.
Participative leaders use the whole team, or classroom’s, input to develop a decision. Under this style of leadership the leader takes a step back and lets the group decide for themselves what to do. This enables students to learn for themselves and in younger education where students must develop themselves through touch, sight, smell, and their other senses, this is the best leadership style. This leadership style can take a lot of time to work with because a community decision must be reached.
The last leadership style is delegative leader. This leader does almost no leadership decisions at all. They would only make a decision if there was an emergency or something needed to be done right then and there. Instead of making the decisions for the whole group, the delegative leader allows each member to work by themselves. This method is most easily deployed when you are working with a group of experts. The leader plays the role of connecting the various followers so that they know what all branches are doing.
